Compact and early flowering, Monarda ‘Balmy Lilac’ (Bee Balm) is a clump-forming perennial which produces bright lilac flowers, borne in dense, globular terminal heads. Blooming for weeks from late spring through summer, they rest upon a whorl of decorative bracts and attract scores of butterflies and hummingbirds. They are borne atop upright stems clad with aromatic, dark green leaves, which remain attractive even when not in bloom. This dwarf variety of Bee Balm enjoys a good mildew resistance and offers a strong landscape performance.
