Citrus x limon 'Meyer' (Meyer's Lemon) is a compact, spiny, evergreen shrub prized for its large rounded orange-yellow fruit, 3 in. across (8 cm), adorned with a smooth, thin skin. It is less acidic, juicier, sweeter than common lemons and has a pleasant hint of tangerine. The fragrant flowers are beautiful with their waxy white petals and their bundled white stamens adorned with yellow anthers. They shine against the evergreen foliage of ovate, glossy dark green leaves. Flowers and fruit appear throughout the year when grown outside in warm temperatures. An excellent substitute for true lemons, it is also quite ornamental around homes, patios or grown as a houseplant.
