Coriandrum sativum
Cilantro has delicate, lacy green leaves that are often mistaken for parsley.
It is a widely used annual herb with flat leaves and white flower heads in summer. The fresh leaves have a pungent flavor that I like to use in chicken or fish dishes, in rice, salads, or mayonnaise. Remove the tough stems from cilantro before adding it to your cooked dishes or homemade salsa. To achieve the perfect tasting salsa with sweet, salty, sour, and spicy flavors, try different combinations of: tomato, onion, pepper, garlic, salt, lime juice or vinegar, pinches of sugar, fresh parsley, mint, basil, and oregano.
