The bold red flowers of Hemerocallis ‘Chicago Apache’ will not leave you untouched. Funnel-shaped, the rich scarlet flowers exhibit white midribs, and a golden-green throat, beautifully contrasting with the black anthers. Slightly ruffled and recurved, each flower, up to 5 in. wide (12 cm), typically lasts no more than 24 hours (thus the common name ‘Daylily’), opening up in the morning and withering during the forthcoming night, possibly replaced by another one on the same scape (flower stalk) the next day. This midseason tetraploid Daylily has a good bud count (up to 15 buds) and is dormant (deciduous).
