Some plants get all the attention on a patio or in the landscape, and Mandevilla Sun Parasol Red will stand out even among those. Mandevilla is a tropical climbing plant with giant deep red blooms that you can grow during summer and even as a houseplant in winter. Place it in a focal part of your landscape or in a container near a pole or trellis. Then train the long stems as they fill with glossy green leaves and large (2 to 3 inch) flowers. Most mandevillas can grow to 10 feet long with little effort other than a place to climb and regular watering. In warm southern zones (10 and 11), plant in full or part sun and it will continue to bloom outdoors with long-lasting red flowers from planting time until first frost. If you grow it in a container, bring it indoors for winter in most zones.
