This mint has leaves with a sweeter flavor than other mints and are the best for creating the perfect Mint Julep. It is also a good mint to flavor teas, fruity drinks, jellies, salads and desserts. In summer flowers bloom attracting birds and butterflies. Plant in beds or borders but contain plant as it will spread quickly. This mint will thrive in containers on the patio. Wash leaves before use. Hardy zones 4-9.
Mint Julep
Muddle or mash 10 fresh mint leaves with 2 sugar cubes or ½ ounce simple syrup in glass to release the mint flavor. Add 2 ½ ounces Kentucky Bourbon whiskey. Fill glass with crushed ice and stir well to blend. Add additional leaves for garnish.
