Little Bluestem (schizachyrium scoparium) requires nearly full sun for upright growth and looks best when cut back in early spring, allowing new leaf blades to fill in. 'Prairie Blues' is grown for its foliage that is more consistently gray blue in color when compared to the species. In fall it has fluffy silver seed heads that may persist into winter and rosy orange foliage.
